Although I would prefer to finish reading one book each week, the constant randomness of life prevents me. There is work, stress, unexpected guests, tiredness. Still, I managed to read two books in the month of August. I enjoyed reading the last of the trilogy (about vampires and witches and the Middle Age history) in Deborah Harkness’

The series includes A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of the Night. These long novels were worth reading as the main characters did time-travel and lived briefly in Elizabethan age. They switched from the present to past to present. This final book was a little tedious but the action picked up towards the ending. I am always drawn to vampiric stories in the tradition of Anne Rice.
Another I looked forward to re-reading is James Herriot’s
